Cedar Park may be known today as one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the Austin area — but quietly, something much bigger is taking shape.

Aerospace.

And Firefly Aerospace is putting Cedar Park directly on the map.

The Texas-based space company has officially moved into its new headquarters on Scottsdale Drive, marking a major expansion that signals where both the company — and the city — are headed next.

This isn’t just another corporate office.

It’s a full-scale aerospace campus.

The new site spans three buildings and roughly 144,000 square feet, bringing together engineering, spacecraft assembly, avionics, mission control operations, and advanced manufacturing under one centralized hub.

And the growth isn’t stopping there.

Just down the road sits Firefly’s “Hive” facility — home to mission control and cleanroom operations supporting the company’s growing work in lunar and orbital missions. Additional innovation labs are also expanding across the region to support propulsion systems, robotics, spacecraft technologies, and future production capabilities.

Now zoom out for a second.

This is part of a much larger transformation happening across Central Texas.

Firefly currently employs around 500 people locally and roughly 1,500 employees companywide, with additional testing operations taking place at the company’s Rocket Ranch facility in Briggs.

And local leaders are betting heavily on the industry’s future here.

The City of Cedar Park approved incentive agreements worth up to $1 million tied to long-term investment, job creation, and payroll growth — all aimed at helping position the city as a serious aerospace and advanced technology hub.

Why does that matter?

Because industries like aerospace don’t just bring jobs.

They bring engineers.

Manufacturing.

Research and development.

Infrastructure investment.

High-paying careers.

And entire ecosystems of suppliers, startups, and innovation companies that often follow behind them.

That’s exactly what Cedar Park leaders are now working toward.

Partnerships with universities, long-term infrastructure planning, workforce development initiatives, and future R&D opportunities are all becoming part of the conversation as Firefly continues scaling operations.

And the timing is significant.

Firefly has secured major contracts in both government and commercial space sectors — including work tied to NASA and lunar missions — while continuing to expand its role in the rapidly growing private aerospace industry.

Bottom line:

Cedar Park is no longer just growing outward.

It’s beginning to grow upward — into aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and next-generation technology.

And if this momentum continues, Firefly Aerospace could become one of the defining companies shaping the future economy of Williamson County.
